Mr. Alimamy R. Wurie is a Sierra Leonean by nationality. He was employed as a Government Mining Engineer in the Sierra Leone Ministry of Mines, where he served for 36 years before retiring in September 2008. In the course of his service in the Ministry, Mr. Wurie attained several positions such as Assistant Director of Mines, Officer in Charge – Marampa Iron Ore Mining Company, Deputy Director of Mines and finally Director of Mines, a position he held for nine years.
Throughout the period he was Director of Mines, he also served as Chairman of the Minerals Advisory Board.
In his capacity as Director of Mines, he was Principal Technical Adviser to the Minister of Mineral Resources on Mining and related matters and was also responsible for the effective Amonitoring of all Mining and Exploration activities to ensure Mineral Right Holders complied fully with the provisions of the Mines and Minerals Act.
Mr. Wurie has extensive experience in the Sierra Leone Mining Industry and since his retirement, he has provided consultancy services to several Exploration and Mining Companies, as well as investors interested in the mining and marketing of precious minerals. He also served as a member of the Minerals Advisory Board in the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Resources from 2009 to 2018.
